Weekend Fishing Adventure: Grasping the Divine Halberd, Stepping on the Fighting Shark – Let’s Meet Up!
Okay, let’s be real – if I don’t go fishing on the weekend, my heart feels totally restless. But here’s the thing: during the day, I’m stuck herding my “little monster” (you know, the kiddo), and at night, I have to beg for their approval just to sneak out. Who knew fishing would be this hard at my age? Ugh, parenthood and fishing struggles, am I right?
Luckily, today my little monster was in a good mood and actually let me go! I didn’t waste a second – grabbed my gear and bolted before they could change their mind. Can’t risk that “wait, no, you have to stay” vibe, y’know?
Quick Stop at the Familiar Fishing Spot
I didn’t have time to scout new spots, so I hit up my old go-to place. First order of business: toss a handful of red worm pellets to lure in the fish. Then, I mixed up my bait – just the “All-Catch Worm Flavor” straight out of the pack. Let’s set the scene: water depth’s 60cm, I grabbed my Xiafengxian float, my Divine Halberd 4.5m rod, and a 1.2+0.6 line setup for targeting crucian carp. I went with a 5-eye adjustment, 3-eye catch setup. Since it was just getting dark, I planned to cast a few times first to build the bait pile – trying to catch the so-called “window period” last bus before the fish go quiet.
Oh, and I added a tiny bit of gluten powder to tweak the bait texture – gotta make sure the fish can chow down easy. While waiting for the bait to “wake up” (you know, let the flavors meld), I pulled out my Divine Halberd rod. Dude, when you’ve got a sick rod in your hand, it feels like you’ve got the world in your grasp! Total “divine weapon in hand, world at my feet” vibes, even if it’s just for fishing.
Perfecting the Bait & First Catch!
I kneaded the bait a few more times to get those quick strands of gluten – once it clumped up nice and tight, I was ready to cast! Look how bright and vibrant the bait is outside – who knew fish eat this good these days? The All-Catch Worm Flavor just works, no cap.
I also set up a second rod with earthworms to wait it out. After a minute, the float dipped a little – probably a nibble but not a full bite. I gently tugged the rod a tiny bit to tease the fish… boom, that worked! The float dropped 2 eyes right away, and I hooked a fish! It was small, like 1+ ounce maybe, but hey – I wasn’t gonna be skunked! Got that Fighting Shark fish basket out – first catch of the day, let’s go!

Check out the scales on this little guy – nice and neat, no scratches or missing bits. Perfect little fish, even if it’s tiny. Gotta appreciate the small wins, right?
Waiting Game & More Catches (Then the Lull)
But then… the bait rod just went quiet. No bites, nothing. Okay, fine, I’ll be patient. I waited… and waited… until 10 PM, when the float finally twitched! I almost missed it, but I cast again right away. A minute later, the float lifted a bit then dropped 2 eyes – I reeled in fast, and the fish landed on the ground! The All-Catch Worm Flavor did its job – the fish were in the area. Nice!
But here’s the cruel part: reality hit hard. After that, no more bites. I sat there, feeling kinda silly, until 11:30 PM – still no valid bites. Ugh, guess it’s time to pack up. Tomorrow’s back to the grind, so I grabbed my stuff and thought, “Hey, let’s get a pic of the day’s haul!”

Two fish – one big, one small. Total brothers, right? Matching set. Even though the bite was slow, I can’t complain too much – at least I didn’t go home empty-handed. Also, turns out the whole river was like that today – most people only caught two fish too. Not a great day, but not a total bust.
