Big Fish King | Caught Carp Instead of Crucian Carp – So Annoying! ^_^
Ugh, yesterday the wind was howling nonstop! I checked today’s weather forecast specifically-level 2 west wind, not great for fishing, and the score was low too. But when I saw the big wind died down and the weather let me go fishing, who cares about the score! I finished all the housework early in the morning and started prepping my fishing gear…
Since the day before yesterday when I finished fishing, a angler who passed by the north side of Jiangang Old Bridge came over and rambled on about how great the fishing was there-total exaggeration! It got me itching to check it out today! North of the bridge, here I come~

Basic Fishing Details (Oct 10)
Let me list out the key info first-this stuff matters for any fishing trip, right?
- Weather: Sunny, 4–18°C (3.8–64.4°F), west wind level 2, barometric pressure 1013 hPa
- Location: Reservoir near my home
- Fish species: Crucian carp, topmouth culter, common carp
- Water depth: 1.5m (4.93ft)
- Rig: Adjusted to 6 eyes, fished at 4–8 eyes
- Angler: Me, myself, and I
- Rod: Dicca Xuanguang 5.4m
- Floater: 1.7g load
- Bait: Big Fish King (fishy version)
- Line set: Main line 1.2, sub line 0.6, size 4 hook
The real-time fishing index was 58–89, but once I got outside, it was freezing cold! The drive to the reservoir was smooth, and I found a spot to park near the bank, then slid down the slope to the river. On the right there’s a bend, left is the old bridge next to a fish pond-usually the owner doesn’t want people fishing close, so I skipped the hassle and walked right. These are old fishing spots, with bricks stacked and trenches dug-super familiar. I picked a relatively flat spot to sit, since I didn’t bring my tackle box today, just a small folding stool. Old spots are usually solid, so this’ll work! First, I mixed up the Big Fish King bait~
Morning Struggles: Wind, Cold, and No Bites
At 9 AM, the sun hadn’t hit my side of the reservoir yet-chilly! I watched the water split by sunlight: one side green, the other deep blue, pretty cool. But what annoyed me? The forecast said level 2 wind, but there were waves! The trees on the opposite bank were swaying left and right-at least level 4 wind! Total pain for fishing, but hey, I’m here now… For float adjustment, with wind and waves, I went high eye-otherwise the waves would hide the bites. No way around it!

After casting, it was worse than I thought-there was current too! And I knew tiny fish would bother me soon, but forget that-first throw some bait and wait for bites. Maybe the water was cold this morning? I cast a few times, no bites, not even tiny fish. You know what’s the worst for anglers? No bites. Old saying: “Fear not the small fish bites, fear no bites at all!” Ugh, keep casting-big bait clumps nonstop! Finally, a tiny fish showed up ^_^
Good sign! Big Fish King (fishy version) still attracts fish. What’s next? I added a handful of wine rice to the bait-good for luring and keeping fish around. Maybe crucian carp will come soon, crossing my fingers for nice big crucians!
Annoying Anglers and Tiny Fish Chaos
By now, more people showed up by the bank. Two young guys sat not far from me, chattering and blasting music-so edgy, totally annoying. The bites were already rare, and the noise made me so frustrated. Then… tiny bottom fish (like gobies) started biting nonstop, lol. Even caught a “high-end toy” (a small item, maybe a keychain?)-check out the auction on Xianyu if you want it ^_^

Look at the waves in the pic-super rough! The gusts were so strong they flipped my bait bowl into the water! Plus the current made it hard to see the float, so I added lead to the sub line-worked great, the float stayed put. After a bunch of tiny fish, I thought the spot should be “activated” by now… While I was forced to listen to Jay Chou’s songs, I saw the float dip! I lifted the rod right away-there’s some weight, this must be a crucian over 1 tael (37.5g). Then it popped out of the water-long and thin, not a crucian… Oh man, a small carp! Its two little whiskers gave it away ^_^
Carp Invasion: Where Are My Crucians?
I wanted crucians, but carp came first-okay, keep going! When the anglers next to me saw me catch fish, they came over to check-probably bored out of their minds. That small carp was a shot of adrenaline, I got hyped and cast more often. Sure enough, hard work pays off-another bite! Pulled it up, still a small carp, lol. Are they looking for their family? No rush, stay a sec, take a pic, then go home!

The two carp got the bank anglers excited again. One of the young guys came over and said he hadn’t had a bite since he sat down, while I was catching nonstop… Then he sat right next to me without asking! WTF, is your lack of bites because you’re hogging my spot? It was almost noon, I didn’t wanna argue-seen too many of these guys, so annoying. Once I had a 5.4m rod pulling crucians nonstop, then an old guy with a sea rod threw his line into my spot-total garbage! Of course I didn’t let him get away, we ended on bad terms. But just then, another small carp bit! It ran straight for the line hog’s rod- I yelled “lift your rod!” but that guy didn’t get it, just stared and said “another fish!” I couldn’t let the lines tangle, so I pulled hard the other way. Since he was so close, I had no space to control the fish-of course it got away…

Ugh, not that the fish ran because of him, but this behavior is so bad! Seeing someone catch fish and hog their spot-total no-no! If it were me, even if I was right next to you, if you’re catching and I’m not, I’d ask for tips or bait, never do that rude stuff without asking! It’s basically a challenge, might even cause a fight! Hope anglers with this problem fix it-if you have it, fix it; if not, keep it up!
Wrap-Up: Carp, Cleanup, and “River Champion”
After the lost fish, I lost my mood and patience. I put on red worms and fished a bit-tiny fish went crazy, gobies still biting nonstop. Alright, the sun’s up, lunchtime, I’m hungry-time to go. Gotta shout out: Big Fish King bait lured small carp instead of crucians, but even bees came! Land, sea, air all attracted-wow, impressive!
Three carp played with me today, totally enough-even though none stayed, the process was fun~ That’s all! Let the small carp go home, grow a bit then play with me again~ I picked up the trash from my spot, piled it up for the river cleaners. Since I joined Fishing Home, I’ve had this habit-gonna keep it forever! When I left, no one else had caught a fish- I’m proud! Total “river champion” lol, so shameless…

Okay, that’s it for today! Wait, I guess I should say a few real quick takeaways-no fancy stuff, just what I learned:
- Don’t go fishing in big wind/waves-today I got tricked by the forecast!
- Wind/waves + current? Go high eye and add lead to sub line-easy to see float, stops current!
- Never hog someone’s spot just ’cause they’re catching fish-total loser move.
- When fighting a fish, don’t yank hard-you’ll lose it for sure!
Overall, today was okay-even with the lost fish and line hog, I’m happy ’cause I was the “river champion” lol! Alright, you read this far-hit that like button, yeah? See you next post, bye bye~
